The most popular performance compacts on the market go head to head in one of the best drag races we can see right now.

Performance compacts are the object of desire for the most enthusiastic drivers. Almost every car brand has one in its line-up, but which is the best? Answering that question is genuinely difficult, since each has its strengths and weaknesses, but our colleagues at CarWow have set out to do just that with an unprecedented drag race: the most popular performance compacts in a straight-line acceleration race.

This incredible battle features five participants: the Renault Megane RS, the Seat Leon Cupra, the Honda Civic Type R, the Peugeot 308 GTi and the Hyundai i30 N. For reasons we don’t know, CarWow forgot one of the most famous performance compacts of all time, the Volkswagen Golf GTi, or failing that, the top-of-the-range version, the Golf R. Either way, it remains one of the most interesting battles we can see right now.

In the video below, three tests are carried out: ¼ mile from a standing start, ¼ mile rolling start and braking from 113 km/h to a standstill. This gives us a fairly clear idea of how these cars compare.
