Dragging a SpaceX Raptor engine is child's play for the Cybertruck

Dragging a SpaceX Raptor engine is child's play for the Cybertruck

The collaboration between two of Elon Musk’s companies has given us a moment as striking as the one recently seen at SpaceX’s Starbase in Texas

It is often pointed out that Tesla is one of the few car manufacturers that doesn’t spend a single cent on advertising. The American manufacturer’s vehicles are becoming more and more popular on the streets and roads of half the world, an achievement reached without needing a marketing department.

Elon Musk has always thought that social media, and more specifically the former Twitter -now X- which he owns today, can perfectly fulfil the task of making the public aware of the merits and benefits of driving a Tesla. And the truth is that, so far, he doesn’t seem to be doing badly with this idea.

Tesla and SpaceX join forces

Whatever the case, a recent image captured at SpaceX’s base in Texas is certain to get far more exposure than any advertising spot could, and without the company spending a single cent of dollars on it.

As you can see in the video above, published on the YouTube channel Starship Gazer, SpaceX is using a Cybertruck to transport the Raptor engines of the Starship, which will soon attempt another launch into space. According to SpaceX itself, each of these Raptor engines weighs slightly more than 1,500 kg, so it should not be a difficult task for the American manufacturer’s electric pickup.

Although we don’t know whether this Cybertruck is a pre-production unit or a final version, Tesla initially announced that the Cybertruck will be capable of towing up to 6,350 kg. Although this figure could ultimately change when the American manufacturer officially presents its electric pickup, dragging a 1,500 kg Raptor engine should not pose any problem for the final version of the Cybertruck.

The ability to tow heavy loads is highly valued in the North American market among pickup buyers, whether electric or not, so this image of a Cybertruck hauling an entire Raptor engine for SpaceX’s Starship is, without a doubt, a masterstroke by Tesla.

In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar image during the official presentation of this electric pickup, which should take place before the end of the year. We’ll be watching to see whether this actually happens.
