Dubuc seeks funding for the Tomahawk through crowdfunding
Dubuc presented the Tomahawk a few months ago, a supercar that achieves truly impressive figures for a fully electric car, and it hopes to raise all the capital needed for its manufacture through a crowdfunding platform

Electric cars are becoming more and more common. They are the energy source chosen by supercar manufacturers to power the engines of their elegant and always powerful cars. There is no doubt that it is the alternative fuel to fossil fuels that will end up dominating supercars. Dubuc is a Canadian company that has also set out to produce its luxury vehicles using electricity, but it has opted for a source of funding different from the traditional way of attracting investors.
After several months of uncertainty, the company has resumed the Tomahawk project, its proposal for a high-end electric car. This time, it has decided on funding through crowdfunding, a system that will allow it, if all goes well, to raise the $25 million it needs to begin production of the model.
Dubuc does not intend for its car to be a bestseller and does not plan for the price of each unit to be produced to fall below $100,000, an amount it has estimated as sufficient to obtain the profits it expects. In theory, this fully electric model has a range of almost 500 km, with enough power to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just three seconds and reach a top speed of 250 km/h.

According to the specifications, the Tomahawk will have electric motors at the front and on the rear axle, which will allow the car to operate with all-wheel drive and achieve the figures we mentioned earlier. The batteries could pose a problem, which is why part of the bodywork and the doors have been made of aluminum, thus offsetting the weight of the energy storage units.
The Tomahawk began development at the beginning of this decade and was almost ready for launch in 2014, but production had to be halted due to a lack of investment. Now, once this crowdfunding campaign is complete, they hope to move the project forward and begin delivering the first units starting in 2017. It is a risky bet, but it will allow interested investors to participate more easily. And who knows, it could set in motion a chain of projects of this kind funded through these platforms.
