Ducati Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour, the ultimate weapon for long-distance touring

Twenty-one years ago, when Ducati decided to launch the Multistrada for the first time, it was undoubtedly one of the best decisions made by the Italian brand, becoming the most successful model in its catalogue and, consequently, the model to which they devote the greatest effort to offer to their customers. The Multistrada has become a benchmark of trail bikes, whether for use on track or for riding on asphalt covering long journeys.

Ducati now wants to focus precisely on this latter group of customers: riders who want to opt for a Multistrada to undertake long trips and, of course, to make them with the greatest possible comfort and safety. To this end, it offers the new Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour, equipped as standard with a multitude of accessories that will allow us to cover all the kilometres we wish with complete peace of mind.

The new Ducati Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour is in essence a Multistrada V4 S, so in that sense there are no surprises. It guarantees a chassis equipped as standard to a high level, with elements such as the braking system designed by Bosch and Brembo 10.3ME, featuring the Cornering Braking System function, dual 330 mm front brake discs with Brembo Stylema 4-piston radial calipers, and Marzocchi Ducati Skyhook Suspension Evolution semi-active electronic suspension with Autolevelling, Minimum Preload and Easy Lift functions.

From here on, the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour takes the best of its sister models and incorporates them as standard equipment. For example, from the V4 S it adopts what would be its entire optional equipment, such as the Travel & Radar configuration with a radar offering Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Detection, the TPMS system that measures tyre pressure in real time and displays it on the screen, or the auxiliary LED lights that improve visibility at night, which are in addition to the Full LED headlights with DRL and Ducati Cornering Lights.

Another interesting element equipping the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour is the centre stand, which allows us to park on unstable ground with greater safety or carry out maintenance tasks easily, such as lubricating the chain, and even handle the side panniers with a 60-litre capacity. Comfort is also improved thanks to the heated grips and seat, or the hands-free fuel tank; in addition to other solutions adopted from the Multistrada V4 Rally, such as mounting the handlebar directly on the steering axis without silent-blocks.

Many of its functions can be monitored and controlled through its 6.5-inch TFT display, with a colour map navigator, as well as complete information on the entire motorcycle. We can also connect our smartphone while it is kept in a dedicated compartment, which is now ventilated. Finally, if all this seems insufficient, the Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour can further enhance its equipment with options such as different comfort seats, alternative windscreens or kits to lower its height.

Mechanically there are no surprises, and the Ducati Multistrada V4 S Grand Tour is equipped with the 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine, which generates a power output of 170 CV at 10,500 rpm and 125 Nm at 8,750 rpm. Besides having ample power, it delivers a particularly linear torque curve. This engine is coupled to a six-speed gearbox with the Ducati Quick Shift quick-shift function, for both upshifts and downshifts.
