It is no surprise that forecasts for the Japanese brand have been raised. Nissan has released the figures for the third quarter of fiscal year 2009, and they are very encouraging: to give one example, the company’s net profit for this quarter was 340 million euros, with revenue growing by 10%. The President and CEO of Nissan, Carlos Ghosn, commented:

Our performance during the third quarter of 2009 is encouraging and shows that our countermeasures are working. Despite these positive quarterly results, we believe that conditions in the global economy remain volatile and uncertain; therefore, our forecasts will remain cautious until we see clear evidence that the economic recovery will be sustained in global markets

Not surprisingly, not long ago Nissan announced a third shift to reach full capacity at its Sunderland plant given the incredible sales of the Qashqai: the factory is running 24 hours a day to produce as many cars as possible, with three shifts on an intensive basis. The popular crossover from Nissan is being very well received and it will be even more so when the new version arrives shortly.

Revenue forecasts for the fourth quarter stand at 56,000 million euros, 3,000 million more than previously expected. R&D spending is reduced by just 10 million (from 3,000 to 2,990 million euros), while investments do contract a little more, from 2,470 million euros to 2,270 million euros.
