Elon Musk unveils the first look at his electric truck

Tesla has released a promotional image of its new self-driving electric truck, showing some of the features that will be seen on it

We have already talked several times about the electric truck project that Tesla is planning. A tractor unit that wants to go head-to-head with the diesel tractors currently on the market. We know nothing about what this imposing truck will offer, although knowing Musk, we can assume it will have very advanced and efficient technology. But beyond that, we have little to go on, since everything is being kept under the tightest secrecy.

At least, until now, because during one of the TED talks, those motivational speeches held around the world, given in Vancouver, he presented some details of the model that will arrive soon. During this speech, Elon Musk showed an image that previews the look of the truck his company is preparing. No, we are not going to see any specific detail of this tractor unit, but something can be glimpsed in this image, as you can see.

High safety and autonomous driving

Musk has said that this truck will be superior to conventional ones and will have a fairly aerodynamic body and will be as agile, or so he claims, as a supercar. We are not very clear on this last point, but we know it will use LED headlights. That is all we can see in the image, but the CEO of Tesla wanted to comment on a few more things about this project, and we have noted some of them.

For example, Musk claims it will be a very safe vehicle and that it will manage to reduce the cost of freight transport, making it simpler, more practical and more profitable. In addition, according to Musk, work will be done on safety so that it is much safer than conventional tractor units. One of the things they want to make most obvious is that it will be fun to drive.

And that is because, like all the brand’s models, this electric truck will be capable of driving autonomously, with a system derived from its Autopilot, adapted for a vehicle of this size and characteristics. In fact, the first tests of the electric and autonomous truck will take place during November and December. The test will consist of driving a unit of this model from Los Angeles to New York. A test that will serve as a basis for ironing out errors and allow it not to take long to reach the market. What do you think of the truck Tesla is proposing?
