The images we bring you today are sure to turn heads. They show the Bugatti Mistral in an almost paradisiacal setting. It is important to remember that this imposing model is powered by the 8.0-litre engine of the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport.

The Bugatti Mistral W16 may share most of its mechanical components with the Chiron, but it has a unique appeal and a particularly evocative name. That name refers to the mistral, one of the eight dominant winds that sweep across the Mediterranean Sea, known for blowing from the Rhône valley through the Côte d’Azur and towards the Gulf of Lion in the northern Mediterranean.

As part of its tour, Bugatti recently took the Mistral through the bends of the Côte d’Azur and captured some striking images of the limited-edition hypercar. Given the wealth found along the French Riviera, it would not surprise us if at least one of the 99 Mistral W16 units set to be produced ends up residing in the area.

The manufacturer then took the hypercar to Singapore for a photo shoot at Marina Bay Waterfront before making its final stop at the Bugatti Singapore Showroom for a private client event.

Bugatti refers to the Mistral W16 as “the ultimate roadster” and it is the first open-top car from the brand since the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. Although it is based on the Chiron, it is far more than a convertible Chiron and features a completely bespoke bodywork, with similarities to the 2008 Veyron Barchetta Concept.

The rear of the Mistral is particularly intriguing thanks to its fully unique LED taillights, unlike those of any other Bugatti model. It also features a rear fascia, bumper and diffuser loaded with the finest carbon fibre imaginable. Other highlights of the car’s design include the humps on the engine cover. The front, meanwhile, is dominated by a huge horseshoe grille finished in black and flanked by two enormous air intakes.

In terms of power, the car is powered by the familiar quad-turbocharged 8.0-litre W16 engine from the Chiron, although it is the same unit as in the flagship Super Sport. That means it delivers strong performance and 1,600 Nm of torque. Bugatti has confirmed that it reaches a top speed of 420 km/h.
