EuroNCAP: the Citroën C4 Picasso and the Honda CR-V earn five stars

The Citroën C4 Picasso and the Honda CR-V have passed the demanding tests carried out by the European body EuroNCAP. Both MPVs earned an overall score of five stars, with individual five-star results in the adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, pedestrian protection and safety assist categories.
In the case of the Citroën C4, an almost perfect rating was obtained for the safety of the vehicle’s occupants, as well as for child protection. The only point to note was pedestrian protection in the event of a collision, since the lower part of the windscreen offered very little protection. Let us not forget that the C4 is the first model from the PSA Peugeot Citroën Group to use the new EMP2 platform.

As for the CR-V (the 2.2 diesel version), it has done its homework more than admirably over the years. Protection inside the cabin was close to perfect, with no major deformation of the passenger compartment and no serious “injuries” to occupants in a frontal or side impact. The final rating was slightly higher than that of the Citroën.
In short, there were no major surprises in these latest EuroNCAP tests. Both models performed as expected, and the Citroën C4, the better equipped of the two in electronic safety systems, obtained the best rating in that area, something EuroNCAP takes very much into account when giving each vehicle its overall assessment.
