Ferrari California, now with 30 CV more and 30 kg less

Ferrari will start selling an updated version of the California in early 2012. The most striking changes will be in the engine, which is still a 4.3-litre V8, but power rises to 490 CV (+30) and torque to 507 Nm (+22). This increase is due to new software and reduced friction between the mechanical components.

The exhaust manifold has been optimised to deliver its full potential on 98-octane petrol (it also accepts 95, but with reduced performance). In addition, weight has been cut by 30 kg thanks to the use of new lightweight alloys in various parts of the chassis. Its weight will now be 1,705 kg.

What is the result? Better acceleration: 0-100 km/h in 3.85 seconds, where it previously needed 4 seconds. And not only better acceleration, but also more precise and efficient dynamic behaviour thanks to the optional Handling Speciale package, which allows corners to be tackled with a precision and agility never seen before in the GT convertible from Ferrari.

Finally, the equipment focused on entertainment and communication will also see changes. For example, the hard drive will grow from 30 to 40 GB of capacity and will connect without any problem to the most modern mobile devices on the market.
