Fiat 500 V12 6.2 by Oemmedi Meccanica
A Fiat 500 with a Lamborghini V12 engine? If you thought you had seen it all when it comes to small but powerful cars, you haven’t yet seen the Fiat 500 by Oemmedi Meccanica, a work of art with a V12 engine “tucked in”.

Oemmedi Meccanica is an Italian tuning and restoration workshop, one I did not know but which has thrilled me enormously. The experimentation has resulted in a Fiat 500 with the engine from the Lamborghini Murcielago. But before settling on the V12, the team at Oemmedi did not hold back; they tried a Porsche engine and a V8 Ferrari.
The idea of fitting the largest engine in the smallest car is no novelty, and we have certainly seen several fairly accomplished examples. It becomes truly interesting when this tuning specialty turns into a real science, where the car has to be practically rebuilt to cope with the torque and power of its new heart. And this case is no exception.

The story of this 500 begins with a V8 engine of Ferrari, fitted inside the 500, which meant the first changes to the chassis had to be made. After the V8 came the turn of German machinery, so a Porsche 3.2 engine from a Carrera was used. You can imagine the hours of fun that both the V8 and the six-cylinder provided.
However, Oemmedi Meccanica wanted more. The next step was to get a Lamborghini V12 engine producing 580 horsepower, a completely modified chassis, a rear axle fitted with rollers that look terrifying, and an simply impressive power-to-weight ratio. There is no point listing every change made to what was once the city car used by half of Europe, but we will have to be content with a few images of its transformation and a short taste of the V12.
