Fiat Group ready to leave Italy?
The Fiat Group has categorically denied that Fiat is going to leave Italy, according to Marchionne’s statements which were “misinterpreted” by the press.

The Fiat Group categorically denied in a press dossier that Sergio Marchionne had made any mention whatsoever that the group could leave Italy to set up in some other country. Marchionne’s statements on the matter were misinterpreted by the press, according to a statement from Fiat.
In Italy, the negotiations between the workers of Fiat and Fiat itself have become a thorn in the side of Sergio Marchionne. The CEO of the Fiat Group wants working conditions to be more advantageous for Fiat, as “we are losing money to the competition”, as he has commented on occasion.
The truth is that five of the large plants that Fiat has in Italy have had labour disputes for some time, and there are fears that the partnership with Chrysler will make the situation worse.
According to Marchionne, the opponents are a minority: “billions of euros of investment cannot be stopped because of a minority. This is not a supermarket”.
The departure of Fiat from Italy is a topic that has been widely debated in recent years. Unfortunately, the situation is no different in other parts of Europe, where labour problems and plant closures are constant.
