First official images of the new KIA Stonic revealed
Just a few days after KIA announced it was working on a new B-SUV, the Stonic, the South Korean brand is showing us its first official images

Only a few days ago KIA announced its intention to create a new model in the B-SUV category, the KIA Stonic, which will compete directly with renowned rivals in the segment such as the Nissan Juke, the Renault Captur, and its cousin the Hyundai Kona. A logical move for almost any brand today, since, for example, KIA’s own predictions are that B-SUVs will outsell C-SUVs in 2020, which would mean surpassing 2 million sales for that year.
To compete in such a tight segment, KIA promises a car that will stand out from the rest, with an attractive and customizable design for its future owners, in addition to offering good quality. KIA has such confidence in the Stonic that it expects it to become one of the best-selling models in its entire range.

Exteriorly, despite its compact dimensions, it stands out with a sense of robustness and of a car of greater proportions, with smooth, horizontal lines and no ostentation that give it a distinctive silhouette, all within the design language KIA has been developing in its latest models. Personalization will also play an important role in the Stonic, with up to 20 color combinations for the body and roof.
Inside, they have continued in the direction of European design, also with wide customization options and extensive standard equipment, such as Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, integrated into the touchscreen infotainment system, as well as optional equipment for greater comfort, such as heated seats, keyless entry, or automatic cruise control. Also, despite its compact lines, great care has been taken with occupant space, achieving good capacity both for passengers and luggage, thanks to the 352 litres of boot capacity.

Mechanically, both petrol and diesel engines are offered. In the petrol range we can choose the T-GDI with a turbo of 1,000 cc and 120 CV, or we can opt for the naturally aspirated MPI engine of 1.24 L or 1.4 L. On the diesel side there is only one option available, a 1,600 cc engine that boasts the lowest emissions level in the entire range.
As for safety equipment, we get everything we would expect from a quality car today. Such as the DRIVE WISE program, from which we can choose among a range of advanced driver assistance systems, such as autonomous emergency braking, pedestrian recognition and forward collision warning, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, or lane departure warning, among many others.
The KIA Stonic will reach the European market in the third quarter of this year and, as is customary for KIA, will come with a 7-year or 150,000-kilometre warranty.
