Some people think that city cars are designed only for driving around town and simply offering the best performance on trips through its streets. In other words, the most basic and functional. Fortunately, however, manufacturers know there is no need to limit themselves to that, and there are city-oriented models that offer a lot more. Mazda has just unveiled a special version of the Mazda2 that brings out its sportier side and represents a new update to this small model.

This version of the model is called the Mazda2 Sport Red Edition and, like the rest of the Japanese brand’s range, it features the G-Vectoring Control system, which joins the i-ACTIVESENSE safety updates to improve the driver’s experience behind the wheel. The interior has also been redesigned to better match the sporty spirit of this version.

Inside the cabin, there is a new look to convey this sporty spirit. The steering wheel has been redesigned, and in front of it sits a colour Head-Up Display that lets you see all the important driving data at a glance. The sound inside the car has also been improved, and the seats offer more comfort. The seat upholstery is in Sport Limited Red, a colour that is repeated in other parts of the interior.

The 16-inch Gun Metal alloy wheels accompany the black side skirts and rear spoiler of the same colour. The chrome exhaust finish adds a little more visual impact to the car, which also has a red touch in the form of a rear underbody trim. All of this sits on the bodywork colour, which can be Snowflake White Pearl, Arctic White and Jet Black.

The Mazda2 Sport Red Edition is available at the brand’s dealerships in Spain from 16,550 euros, although adding the navigation system increases the price by 400 euros.
