If the previous generation of the Honda Civic Type-R in Europe was spectacular, the next version being planned will be even more so. The Japanese brand, through its tuner Mugen, will present a Type-R with some modifications to the two-litre engine and an overall improvement to the braking system.

This version of the Type-R is based on the Civic Mugen RR concept, with engine improvements that bring its power to 237 hp and 160 lb-ft of torque. Along with these changes come improvements to the Type-R’s braking system, which will receive larger-diameter discs.

Mugen also placed emphasis on further improving the suspension and on adopting the I-TCMS system patented by Honda, a tyre monitoring system. Continuing with the improvements, another goal of the Mugen team was a general reduction in weight, an important detail for a car that wants to be called sporty. The rear seats have been removed and many interior accessories were replaced with carbon-fibre ones.

Mugen will present the new model first in Great Britain, followed later by the rest of the European countries. Although you should not get your hopes up too much about getting one, since Mugen’s production would be only a few dozen units.
