Ford B-Max, new spy photos
The testing and tuning work on Ford’s mini-MPV is progressing well. Proof of this is the photos obtained of this B-Max prototype in Germany, near the facilities that Ford has there. Commercialisation is planned for late 2011 or early 2012.
The interior and exterior styling is largely known from the numerous photographs and videos taken of its concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Fortunately, it will retain one of the features that make it most striking, the absence of a central pillar.
The B-Max is built on the platform of the current Fiesta, and will replace the Fusion. It measures 4.06 metres long by 1.59 metres high, that is, 11 centimetres more in both dimensions than the Fiesta. This will provide greater interior space than that of Ford’s city model. In addition, the absence of the central pillar enhances the perception of interior space, while also improving access to the seats.
The B-Max will be the first Ford to incorporate the new 1.0-litre 3-cylinder EcoBoost engine. An engine that, with the help of features such as “Start&Stop”, will achieve the lowest emissions and consumption figures in the segment.
