Since the first model of the Ford range with the EcoBoost engine was launched in 2009, the brand with the oval has manufactured a total of 2 million EcoBoost engines. A Ford Escape produced at the Louisville plant (USA) has the honor of reaching this round figure.

Currently the EcoBoost engine range consists of five engines: the 1.0-litre three-cylinder, the 1.5-litre, the 1.6-litre, the 2.0-litre four-cylinder and the powerful 3.5-litre V6. By the end of this year the EcoBoost range is expected to be available on nearly 80% of all global models Ford.

Growing customer demand for these more efficient and economical engines has forced Ford to considerably increase its production. Thus, while in 2012 monthly production stood at 65,000 units, so far in 2013 the monthly average has risen slightly above 100,000 units. In Europe, the reception given to the award-winning 1.0-litre engine means the Cologne engine plant (Germany) is producing no less than 1,000 units a day, destined for the five models that currently use this engine.

It is particularly popular in models such as the B-Max, where 43% of customers have opted for this engine, or the Focus, where the figure stands at 32%. The brand’s plant in Almussafes (Valencia) has already produced a total of 532,000 units of the 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine since production began in 2010.
