The Chinese market and, consequently, the Asian market, continue to get more exclusive models, thanks to the booming growth they are experiencing. The Guangzhou Motor Show is one of the events showcasing these new models designed to find a place in the Chinese market, and there we will see the Ford Everest, a proposal from the American manufacturer.

It is a seven-seat SUV built on the Ford Ranger, the company’s well-known pick-up. This version, aimed at China and the rest of the region’s markets, Australia and even South Africa, will be produced in two plants: one in Thailand for the Asian market, while the Nanchang plant is reserved for China.

The Ford Everest offers two versions, one with rear-wheel drive and another with all-wheel drive, available depending on the market they are destined for. It has a ground clearance of 225 mm and a wading depth of 800 mm. It also features four driving modes to improve grip depending on the terrain.

The settings regulate the throttle response, traction and transmission so that it operates with more or less efficiency in each of them. If needed, the Everest can achieve greater grip by improving four-wheel traction with a lower gear ratio, which can be very useful in extreme off-road conditions.

The engines that will power this SUV aimed at the Asian market have also been adapted to the demands of customers in the destination countries. The 2.0-litre petrol EcoBoost four-valve engine is complemented by two diesels. The first is a 3.2-litre Duratorq TDCi five-cylinder, while the other is a 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi four-cylinder. All of them are paired with two six-speed gearboxes, both automatic and manual.
