Ford Expedition, the American manufacturer's SUV, gets an update for 2018

The American market has a special fondness for large off-road vehicles, cars that never reach the European market but surprise us the first time we see them. The Ford Expedition is one of those powerful, large and imposing SUVs that aren’t sold in Spain but that we would love to see on our roads. It is one of those large off-roaders that are so popular in the United States, where they are primarily aimed at their home market. And speaking of it, it’s worth highlighting that the brand with the blue oval is preparing a version for 2018.
These large SUVs don’t usually come with very complete equipment, but this changes with this new version of the model. Ford has chosen to include a large battery of driver assistance systems in the car’s offering to make the driver’s journey safer. Many of these systems are also found on other models from the brand. In addition, it includes a 360-degree camera that helps during parking manoeuvres.

The 2018 model of the Expedition doesn’t forget connectivity, which is essential for today’s drivers. Its equipment includes both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, both with Mirror Screen, to replicate the phone’s screen on the touchscreen that dominates the dashboard. Phones can also be charged wirelessly, which makes it ideal for those who can’t live without their phone, while keeping them safe behind the wheel.
A good audio system with 12 speakers, a panoramic roof and four 12 V charging points, four USB ports and even a 110 V socket, the standard voltage in the United States. As for the engine, this behemoth is powered by a 3.5-litre EcoBoost unit, which gives its eight occupants enough power to tackle any terrain they want to drive on.
The Ford Expedition goes on sale next autumn in four trim levels. The importance of this type of vehicle in the American market is such that the brand wants to double the number of models it offers in its domestic market by 2020, and many of them we in Spain will only be able to look at from afar, wondering why these large, powerful and excellently equipped cars have no room on our roads… or on our mountain tracks.
