Ford F-150: the most technologically advanced pick-up in its class
Ford has unveiled its new F-150 at the Detroit Motor Show. The American pick-up offers state-of-the-art technology.
The oval brand has presented several world premieres at the Detroit Motor Show. Among them, we highlight the debut of its most modern and successful pick-up, the F-150. This redesigned model has received a major technological upgrade among its improvements. Unlike its rivals in the segment, the F-150 features state-of-the-art driver assistance systems and the most modern connectivity and audio devices on the market. We are talking about assistance such as pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection or adaptive cruise control with stop and go. In terms of connectivity, it features a 4G LTE modem, SYNC 3 and a B&O Play audio system.
The American manufacturer has also announced the arrival of its new mid-size pick-up and SUV: the Ford Bronco and the Ford Ranger, respectively. The new pick-up will only be sold in the USA and will hit the market in 2019, while the Ford crossover will be produced globally and is expected to arrive in 2020. Both the Bronco and the Ranger will be manufactured at Ford’s assembly plant in Michigan.

“We have listened to our customers. They want a new generation of powerful yet fun-to-drive vehicles,” says Joe Hinrichs, president of Ford America. “The Ranger is for truck users who need an affordable, functional, tough and manoeuvrable pick-up with the traditional Ford durability. The Bronco will be a mid-size 4×4 for thrill-seekers, designed to go far beyond the urban environment.”

These announcements are part of the offensive that Ford plans to carry out over the next five years. The American manufacturer will add a total of 13 new electrified vehicles to its range, including hybrid versions of the F-150 and the Mustang, among others. The company will invest €4.26 billion in electrifying its vehicle fleet. The company expects sustained growth in electrified vehicles and estimates that the supply of electric vehicles in the automotive sector will surpass that of petrol-powered vehicles within the next 15 years.
In addition, Ford expects autonomous vehicles to be gradually introduced in cities around the world. This includes the first fully autonomous Ford vehicles in 2021.
