Lexus LS 2018: the luxury saloon gets a sportier edge
The premium sedan from Lexus is lower and lighter than its predecessor. It was unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show and will reach the market in 2018.
Lexus has unveiled the new LS at the Detroit Show. The new generation of the flagship from the Japanese manufacturer has taken on a more dynamic character than the model it replaces. Its centre of gravity has been lowered and its weight reduced by 90 kg. The new saloon is longer and wider than its predecessor: its wheelbase has increased by 35 mm (3,125 mm). This model will be built on Lexus’s new GA-L platform for high-performance vehicles. According to the brand, the new LS offers the most rigid chassis in its history.

The Lexus LS 2018 will be fitted with a twin-turbo V6 engine producing 421 CV and 600 Nm of torque. Its 0-100 km/h acceleration is 4.5 seconds, and it features a 10-speed automatic gearbox with torque converter.

Although it stands out for its optimised dynamics, the new premium sedan has always been characterised by a high level of comfort, and this model is no exception. The new seat design is proof of this, as they offer up to 28 different positions along with heating, cooling and massage functions.

“The LS is the flagship of the Lexus brand,” says chief designer Koichi Suga. “More than any other model, it embodies the history and image of Lexus and is a symbol of everything the brand stands for.”
The new LS includes the Lexus Safety System + which combines intuitive pedestrian detection with active driving. It also offers Lexus CoDrive, which adjusts steering in line with the driver’s intentions and provides continuous assistance on motorways. This new model will go on sale in 2018.
