Ford takes advantage of the Detroit Show to unveil its latest prototype, the Ford Vertrek, which will possibly end up becoming the replacement for the current Kuga. It brings us a concept with a much more futuristic design and a sportier look.

The Ford Vertrek Concept has more generous dimensions than the Kuga, which allows it to gain interior space and boot capacity. On the exterior it features the new grille that was already seen on the Ford Focus as well as redesigned headlights.

Also standing out is the panoramic roof and the side line of the SUV, which gives it a sportier air. Although the exterior seems close to the final model, with the exception of some details, the interior changes completely, as it features elements that are too futuristic such as the centre console or the seats.

As for the engine, it incorporates the four-cylinder EcoBoost 1.6 which considerably reduces emissions and consumption thanks to the automatic Start-Stop system. In addition to this engine, it also adds improved TDCi units for diesel versions. Therefore the Ford Vertrek is possibly the natural replacement for the current Kuga, Escape in the USA.
