Frankfurt 2011 curiosities: Hyundai impresses the boss of Volkswagen

International motor shows are an important event for the manufacturers themselves, since they can evaluate the competition firsthand, getting in, touching and looking at the other models. But the surprising part is in the video that Autoblog has found, since the top executive of Volkswagen is amazed by the adjustments of the new i30.

Martin Winterkorn, CEO of VW, is amazed at the adjustments of the steering wheel, which he says make no noise, and wonders how they managed to do that.

Literally he says (around minute 1:45):

Bischoff, where is Bischoff? They don’t make any strange noises! How could they have done it? BMW He can’t, we can’t… it makes no noise!

His companion replies:

We had a solution, but it was too expensive…

It is very common to see people looking at the underside of cars, taking photos, measuring dimensions and other aspects of the model, in short, a group of engineers who I certainly don’t think work for the motoring press.

As a curiosity, at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, two Asian people locked themselves inside a C4 for more than half an hour analysing the whole navigation system, menus, screens and photographing everything.
