From Birmingham to Munich, with a Jaguar XF diesel and on a single tank of fuel

I keep wondering what the point of a diesel is for someone who buys a whole Jaguar, since I don’t think someone who drives a Jaguar every day needs to grab a notebook and record their consumption figures or the litres used every 100 kilometres.
However, the people at Jaguar wanted to prove to the world that their XF with a 2.2 diesel engine is the most economical and efficient car. To do so, they organised a trip from Birmingham, in Great Britain, to the city of Munich in Germany. Consumption came to 4.13 litres per hundred kilometres.
The distance covered was more than 1,300 kilometres and still with the same amount of fuel in the tank. Of course, the XF 2.2 is capable of performance that is very good for a diesel, with a top speed of over 200 km/h, although on this particular trip they surely didn’t go above 100. With relaxed driving and an eye on saving fuel, they have confirmed something that many other diesels are also capable of doing.
