Geneva Motor Show 2012: Infiniti

Infiniti has presented its mid-engined sports hybrid concept, the Emerge-E, along with the FX Sebastian Vettel and the M35h with even lower emissions.

Infiniti has delighted us with the Emerge-E, the first mid-engined sports hybrid from Infiniti, in its world premiere. It is the successor to the Etherea Concept, although more sporty than that one, and the latest expression of the Inspired Performace philosophy that its designers have begun to explore for future models.

The 402 hp of power come from a pair of electric motors, a lithium-ion battery, and a three-cylinder petrol engine. It is worth mentioning that an Infiniti spokesperson told us that two prototypes of the Emerge-E are being built in Great Britain (did someone say Lotus?), so the project to bring it to market is well advanced. The model achieves an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just four seconds and from 0 to 210 km/h in 30 seconds. And all of this with zero emissions in urban use, with almost 50 km of electric range and CO2 emissions of just 55 g/km.

The next model Infiniti brought to Geneva is the FX Sebastian Vettel, whose prototype was shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, with 420 hp and 200 limited-edition units for Europe and the Middle East.

Otherwise, they had the M35h, which now features as a novelty a lower level of emissions, at 159 g/km without losing performance, according to the brand.
