Ghiath Smart Patrol, W Motors' proposal for the Dubai police

W Motors, which usually presents high-end vehicles, has unveiled this model designed for the Dubai police, based on the Nissan Patrol.

When we talk about W Motors, we usually do so to talk about the Lykan HyperSport and the Fenyr SuperSport, two supercar brands. But there is not only that type of vehicle to discover in this brand. There are other, more accessible and practical ones. One of them is the Ghitah Smart Patrol, a vehicle designed to serve in the Dubai police force.

There was an earlier Ghiath, based on the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban, but to create this model the brand has based it on a Nissan Patrol. This SUV disappeared from the Spanish market some time ago, but it remains alive in the Middle Eastern market, with its sixth generation, launched in 2010 and still in production. Even so, the vehicle has received so many changes that it could pass for a different car, with a very attractive transformation.

The result is, according to the company, “the most advanced security vehicle in the world“. The exterior has been modified and fitted with a body with a different design, closer to what W Motors offers in its other vehicles. It has been given the white livery with green graphic motifs typical of the country’s police force.

It has also been fitted with emergency lights on the roof, the front grille and the rear tailgate. Inside, it has been equipped with everything the base Nissan Patrol has, such as the steering wheel, the driving mode selector and the climate control. But other elements have been added, such as a large touchscreen covering the central console, switches for the additional equipment, the police radio and an extra screen in front of the passenger seat to monitor the images from the security cameras.

The cameras are positioned to provide a 360º view, which can be controlled through that additional screen. At the rear, an area for detainees has been set up with plastic seats where detainees can ride.

Doubts regarding the engine

W Motors has not made any statements about the engine fitted to this model. If it uses the same powerplant as the Patrol, it will be a 5.6-litre V8 engine producing 400 CV, and up to 428 CV in the high-performance Nismo variant. In both cases the power is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

The brand has announced that this vehicle will be produced at the Dubai Silicon Oasis plant, and that other models will soon follow, developed under the Special Projects Division. Security, defence and intelligent technology vehicles will follow, such as a Ghiath Drone version, vehicles for special forces and for other security divisions.
