Gumpert and the Final Blow: No Possible Recovery from Bankruptcy

Almost a year after Gumpert declared bankruptcy, it has been confirmed today that the brand cannot be recovered. Although investments had been promised by a certain investor from outside the company, at the last moment this investor backed out, leaving Gumpert to its fate.
In March, the brand even managed to open a stand at the Geneva Salon. Back then, there was talk that the investments that would save Gumpert would also allow the presentation of more models derived from the Apollo S.
However, as the promised money did not arrive, the situation worsened with the start of summer. Roland Gumpert wanted to set up a new company from scratch with his new investors, buying what remained of Gumpert, but the plan failed. With not a single car sold during the year, last month the 19 employees who still held out some hope that the brand would survive had to be let go.
With an accumulated debt of €1.7 million, the factory from which these spectacular sports cars came has closed and its inventory will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. I don’t think Gumpert will become a legendary brand, but it is one more that has fallen victim to the European crisis.
