Here it is! Xiaomi's new electric SUV is called the YU7
This new Xiaomi electric SUV, the manufacturer’s second electric model, will reach the Chinese market in mid-next year, offering surprising performance both on track and off it.
Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has just revealed some key details and the name of its long-awaited second electric model, following its registration application with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. This is becoming common practice in this market as a step prior to imminent launch, since it is an essential requirement before a new vehicle can go on sale there.
The Xiaomi YU7, which is what it will finally be called, is an electric SUV practically 5 metres long – 4,999 millimetres. Dimensions practically identical to those of its sibling, the SU7, on sale in China since last April. Both vehicles also share the same design language, which clearly and at a glance links them, as can be seen in the images you will find in this same post.

Xiaomi’s new electric SUV will initially go on sale in China with all-wheel drive, equipped with a 220 kW front motor and another 288 kW motor on the rear axle. In this way, it will offer a combined output of 508 kW, slightly surpassing the SU7 Max in this respect. The capacity of the battery pack is not yet known, but we do know it will be supplied by CATL and be lithium-ion.
What else do we know about Xiaomi’s new electric SUV?
Some other specifications that have come to light for the YU7 relate to its weight. According to data Xiaomi submitted to Chinese authorities, this electric SUV will weigh 2,405 kilograms on the scale and can reach a top speed of 253 km/h, surpassing the base SU7 in speed – 210 km/h – and coming very close to the maximum speed shown on the SU7 Max’s speedometer, capable of reaching 265 km/h when the accelerator is pressed fully down.

Finally, it is worth noting that the Chinese manufacturer has announced that the official launch of the YU7 SUV is scheduled for June or July 2025, a little over a year after deliveries began of its first electric saloon. The SU7 arrived on the Chinese market in early April 2024 and, to date, Xiaomi has already surpassed its initial target of delivering at least 100,000 units with this model before the end of the year.
