Few brands are as legendary as Hispano Suiza. Not because much of it was genuinely Spanish, but because of the quality and current value of its models. However, after several years of absence and uncertainty, Hispano Suiza is making a comeback with a rather stunning model, as the images and data that have started circulating from today show: the Hispano Suiza V10 Supercharged.

One might think they have finally achieved an evolution of the famous HS21 and HS21-GTS, that 600-horsepower V8 supercar. If the current data is accurate, we would be looking at something much better: another sports car with a turbocharged V10 engine, 750 horsepower and all-wheel drive. And that’s not all, because there would be the option for the same car to become a hybrid, delivering 900 horsepower, coupled with an electric motor that would add 150 HP more.

The figures being discussed are quite interesting: a top speed of 330 km/h and an acceleration time of around 3.4 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. A few more details: the body is a mix of aluminum composite and carbon fiber, and there is even talk of a convertible version for 2011. Production would start almost immediately, with the first cars delivered this summer, at a price “that does not exceed 700,000 Euros”.

Until we have some kind of confirmation, we can file this under rumor, adorned with some wonderfully well-drawn renders. Why? Because there is no official word from the companies that hold the rights to the brand and patents of Hispano Suiza (the Spanish group Peralada and the French company Safran).

Does it look very much (too much) like the Audi R8 V10 in both design and engine? It is true. And if we dig a little deeper, it also has the profile of certain Ferrari, with details from Lamborghini. While the few days left before the Geneva show begins pass, Hispano Suiza should be given some room to clarify a little more about this car.
