Honda Fit/Jazz 2014 unveiled

Honda has presented some images of the next generation of the Japanese Fit, which could also reach Spain as the Jazz, the model’s current name in our market. The hybrid variant and an RS variant, of which there is no news at all, are shown.

Known in Spain as the Honda Jazz and in Japan as the Honda Fit, the Japanese brand sheds a little light on the next generation of its compact and presents us with some photos of the final version of the hybrid variant, alongside a mysterious RS about which not a single word is said. Where Honda has placed the most emphasis is on the consumption figure announced for the new hybrid variant: 4.28 L/100 km.

Another highlight of the new Honda Fit 2014 will be the SPORT HYBRID Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive. This designation is none other than the brand’s new hybrid system, which will allow the petrol engine to be switched off so the car runs solely on electricity from the batteries, up to a speed of around 40 km/h.

The petrol engine will be a new 1.5-litre unit producing 135 CV, equipped with a regenerative energy system under braking. Honda promises brilliant fuel economy, but also a level of torque and power superior to other models the Fit competes with. Also according to the brand’s first information, it will feature three driving modes: electric motor only, a combination of both motors, or the petrol engine alone.

The new Honda Fit 2014 will reach Japanese dealerships from September. As for the arrival of the next-generation new Honda Jazz in Spain, there is no official news, but it is possible it will arrive during 2014.
