Some details of this light facelift that the American Civic receives were already visible thanks to leaked images from the model’s catalogue, but now the announcement is official, with details and photos.

Aesthetically, the changes affect the bumper, the grille whose lower part is slightly more rounded, and new front headlight units.

The EX, EX-L and Si trims gain alloy wheels as standard, and the Si also comes with fog lights by default. The LX-S is added, with Sport package and standard wheels, and the DX Value Package, which comes with air conditioning and sound system unspecified.

The Civic Si is powered by a 2-litre block producing 197 horsepower together with a six-speed manual gearbox, and the rest of the petrol trims feature a 1.8 engine producing 140 horsepower with either an automatic or five-speed manual transmission.

The Civic IMA keeps the hybrid system of a 1.3 petrol engine paired with an electric motor delivering 110 horsepower, and the GX natural gas version has a 1.8 with which it achieves reduced consumption, figures which Honda has not specified.

In terms of equipment, trims that come with GPS can be complemented with Bluetooth connectivity, and the EX, EX-L, Si and hybrid can be fitted with a USB connection for MP3 players, in addition to the necessary standard stability control.

And without further ado, here are the images of the 2009 Civic:
