Honda unveils the Amaze, aimed at the Asian market

The Honda Amaze has been launched in India, China and Thailand as a low-cost saloon, following on from the Brio hatchback, and fitted with petrol and diesel engines from the Earth Dreams series.

Honda has moved to the emerging markets front, where it maintains operations in the Asian market. After a teaser for the saloon based on the Honda Brio five-door, it has today unveiled the final model, called Amaze or Brio Amaze, depending on the country where it is sold.

The Amaze “simply” -as it has been named in India- will be its budget car offering for Thailand, China, India and other countries in the Asian region. The first country to receive the model will be Thailand, where it will be sold with the 1.2-litre i-VTEC engine, the same engine as in the Brio hatchback.

Following the launch of the petrol Amaze, the diesel version will follow, arriving with one of the engines from the new Earth Dreams series, the 1.5-litre diesel, similar to those offered in Europe for the Civic and the C-RV. Interestingly, it will be the first diesel engine that Honda sells in India.
