Honda unveils the Civic Type R Prototype at the Tokyo Motor Show
The prototype features a significant aerodynamic upgrade, highlighted by carbon fibre elements and red accents.
The Honda Civic Type R Prototype was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show. This prototype takes the proportions of the five-door Civic, though with a more athletic, reinforced exterior styling. It introduces a series of modifications that contribute to improved aerodynamic performance.

This model features an aggressive front bumper with carbon fibre splitters and a sporty lower red line that runs the full length of the vehicle’s silhouette. It also incorporates carbon fibre side skirts and 20-inch alloy wheels, finished in black with red detailing. The tyres, for their part, measure 245 mm in width.

Beneath the rear bumper sit three exhaust outlets, all fully functional and flanked by two directional diffusers on each side. The central exhaust outlet has a smaller diameter and stands out for its bright metallic red finish. At the rear of the vehicle, a large rear spoiler stands out with a striking design.

Production of the Civic Type R is set to begin in summer 2017 at the Swindon plant (England). It will be exported to various international markets, with the United States, for example, being the first time this model will be sold there. This time, sales in Japan will no longer be limited to a small number of units.
