How long can you have your MOT (ITV) done if it expired during the State of Alarm?
We know that one of the matters that has most concerned our readers during the lockdown, given the fundamental pillars of every human being’s life, has been when, or until when, the MOT (ITV) could be done if it expired during the State of Alarm.
Our followers have taken good note of our advice and recommendations for keeping their conventional cars in the best possible condition during quarantine and, for the users of the new era, electric cars left parked for several weeks, we have also explained, from our sister site DrivingECO, how to act when returning to the usual routine and, why not, how to get a favourable approval when they have to undergo their next periodic inspection.
And it is that since 16 March, when this decree came into force as a direct consequence of the pandemic we are suffering, a series of mandatory procedures, such as the renewal of the driving licence or the aforementioned mandatory periodic vehicle inspections, were postponed until the lifting of that exceptional state or until new measures were enacted, as has now happened.
In parallel with the course of the State of Alarm, from the associations that bring together the various companies and inspection stations, to those doing the same for the users of cars and other vehicles, there was a demand for clarity and precision regarding the maximum permitted dates under which one could qualify once the go-ahead was given for the reopening of, for example, MOT (ITV) stations.

Following the publication of the Transition Plan towards the New Normality by Pedro Sánchez’s Government, the moratorium on these and other procedures now has a maximum deadline for completion, making it necessary for the person concerned to carry out the pending task by a specific date.

So, for example, regarding the deadline for the MOT (ITV), there is a maximum already set by the authorities, as established according to the last inspection, and as recorded by various bodies such as, in this case, the Municipal Police of Alcorcón.

For those who had the bad luck of having 16 March itself as the deadline for their MOT (ITV), the maximum deadline for the MOT (ITV) has been extended to 8 July. On the other hand, those whose inspection expiry falls on the still-upcoming date of 24 May will have until 20 November as the last day to attend one of the MOT (ITV) stations.
