How much does an accident at the Nürburgring cost?

The Nürburgring, the Green Hell, the dream track most of us hope to someday take a few laps on. Those who know the risks of driving the Ring without knowing every secret of the track and its layout (and with a bit of common sense, of course) can avoid bad moments like the ones suffered by the occupants of a certain Opel Astra that, after hitting the barriers, rolled over and gave them a serious scare (after the jump). Accidents like these are frequent on days when the track is open, but besides the cost of repairing the car, a series of extra charges must be paid in the event of an accident:
- Base price for repairing the barriers: €150.
- Removing the damaged barrier: €10 per metre.
- Replacing the damaged barrier: €31 per metre.
- Removing the posts holding the barrier: €39 each.
- Safety car service: €82 per 30 minutes.
- Track closure: €1,350 per hour.
- Tow truck: €190
Except for the cost of the tow truck, a further 19% VAT must be added to all the other items.
