Hunkt Canticie, a Chinese copy of the Range Rover for a tenth of its cost

In China you can find a model very similar to the Range Rover, although for a tenth of the price of the British luxury model, with less power

Hunkt Canticie China

We had already seen a similar example, but now comes a Chinese model, aimed at the local market, that brings us the styling of the Range Rover at a much lower cost than the copied model. And on this occasion we are talking about a tenth of the price of the Range Rover, so it could be a model that is quite successful.

The Hunkt Canticie is practically identical to the Range Rover, leaving aside details such as the headlights, the front grille and the rear lights, but anyone could think they are looking at a unit of a Range Rover Sport. This model is based on the Zotye T900, which is in fact another model based on the Range Rover, so it has simply updated the “original” copy to offer its buyers a car that looks the same as the British model.

A less powerful engine, but sufficient

The manufacturer of the Hunkt Canticie is Hanlong Auto, which has used a single engine for the model. It is a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 218 CV. This already starts to make more sense, since the engine of the Range Rover Sport Evoque, which it wants to resemble, is a 5.0-litre V8 unit.

Inside there are indeed major differences from a Range Rover. The most important is the presence of two multimedia screens, one for the instrument display and another, in a central position, used to control the information and entertainment system. They have also fitted a circular gear selector and physical buttons for controlling the climate system.

The price of the Hunkt Canticie is, as I have already mentioned, much lower than that of the Range Rover and may allow people who want to drive one of them, or at least look like they do, to get one without too much trouble. The price of this model is 126,000 yuan, which is roughly equivalent to 16,260 euros. By comparison, a Range Rover can cost around 1.22 million yuan, that is, approximately 187,500 euros. It is not the same, we know, but from a distance, it looks like it.
