Hyperion XP-1, the hydrogen-powered supercar that breaks with everything you know

Innovation in the automotive world is the order of the day, and some very spectacular models can be seen. The Hyperion XP-1 is a supercar powered by a hydrogen fuel cell that surprises and breaks with everything we might expect from a vehicle, even though it is a hypercar.

Besides showing a very aerodynamic body and having a totally futuristic look, it is designed to surprise, and to do so it does not rely only on its physical appearance. This car has four motors that deliver up to 1.5 megawatts of power. A figure that is dizzying.

With this power, it is no surprise that the top speed reaches 365 km/h and the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is put at 2.2 seconds. And if we look at the range, it is also striking. The company claims that it reaches 1,635 kilometres.

The fuel cell is fed by the hydrogen that is stored in carbon-fibre tanks, and as a novelty, they have replaced the battery that stores the energy produced by the fuel cell with supercapacitors. What the American start-up has not announced is how those supercapacitors work and what figures they deliver in operation. There is also no data on the energy the fuel cell generates, so there are no official figures on any of these important questions.

This supercar is built on a platform created by the company itself, called Sufboard. It can be applied both to this supercar and to other types of vehicles, such as saloons or even commercial vehicles.

The Hyperion XP-1 will be a production vehicle, although it will be limited to 300 units and will be built in the United States. Its price has not been announced either, but we assume it will not be cheap. We will have to wait a few months, because more details of this striking hypercar will surely be announced soon.
