We continue to gradually unpack information about the evolution of the automotive market. If readers are interested in this topic, we have stacked entries on the rest of the brands in the growth label . In this case, it is Hyundai that publishes its results for last year, 2009.

For the first time, the Korean brand achieved 5% of global market share, thanks largely to its plants in China and India, which both boosted their results. Sales revenue rose to almost €20 billion , and net profits increased by 104%, to €1.8 billion, thanks to the manufacture and sale of 3,100,000 cars.

These results, which are clearly positive, are doubly so given the global crisis in the sector. The effort has come mainly from cost reduction, which has allowed net profit to grow, while sales revenue was slightly lower, 1% less than last year. The Tucson ix, the Sonata and the Equus, new models, along with government aid, are also responsible for these good results.

In Europe and the European Union, market share increased, but it is in China, with almost 600,000 units sold and 94% growth, where the largest increase is recorded, making it the fourth largest company in the Asian country.
