Hyundai Kona N: the long-awaited sporty SUV from Hyundai is here
Hyundai has finally unveiled the highly anticipated Hyundai Kona N 2021, the sportiest version of the Korean SUV, which comes with 280 CV.
Sporty SUVs should come as no surprise at this stage of the game, especially considering how crowded the segment has become. Hyundai, which has long been landing hard blows on its main rivals, has decided to stoke the flames of this controversial sector a little further with the Hyundai Kona N. The fact is that we have been given an exclusive first look at the brand’s long-awaited sporty SUV, which it has been teasing for months while fine-tuning every last detail to deliver what will likely become one of the most effective sporty compact SUVs on the market.
That’s right, Hyundai is putting the new Hyundai Kona N into play, a model that arrives hungry to take on the Audi SQ2, Volkswagen T-Roc R and Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4Matic+. In this way, the Korean firm is gearing up to keep making life difficult for its main European rivals with a formula that improves the styling, the cabin and the mechanics of the Hyundai Kona.
In terms of design, it features a more imposing front end thanks to a black grille, three air vents on the bonnet, a large air intake and a splitter with red accents. On the side, standout features include 19-inch wheels that conceal red-finished brake calipers, specific side skirts and widened wheel arches.

Elements finished in black, such as the mirrors and the roof, are also worth mentioning. At the rear, it aims to attract even more attention with an imposing spoiler and a diffuser that houses a twin exhaust outlet ready to delight us with a catchy sound. The cabin is dressed in sporty seats made from a mix of leather and Alcantara, and a steering wheel with specific buttons.
However, the highlight of the new Kona N lies in its mechanical package. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder T-GDI engine that produces 280 CV and 392 Nm of torque. These figures are managed through an electronic limited-slip differential and an 8-speed N DCT dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

As a result, the Korean SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 in 5.5 seconds thanks to the Launch Control function, and reach a top speed of 240 km/h. For now, Hyundai has not said anything about the arrival date or the price of the new Hyundai Kona N, a version that is estimated to be around 37,000 euros.
