Hyundai launches a limited edition of the IONIQ 5 to celebrate Disney's centenary
This special edition of the IONIQ 5 is not only unique but also truly exclusive, as Hyundai plans to sell just one thousand units worldwide
The South Korean manufacturer has wanted to join the celebrations of Disney’s centenary with a special edition of one of its currently most popular electric models. After presenting a first prototype at this year’s New York Auto Show, Hyundai has just unveiled the production version of the Disney100 special edition of the IONIQ 5.
As can be seen in the images, it is clear that this is a truly exclusive edition of the South Korean electric car, based on the E-GMP platform. Among the distinctive touches introduced by Hyundai, the standout features are its well-chosen Matte Gold “Gravity” paint, exclusive wheels with a design inspired by the Disney world, “Disney100” logos on the exterior of the vehicle and on the seats, as well as a special Disney theme on the central screen that appears every time the vehicle is started.

It is unfortunate, however, that some details shown on the first prototype of this special edition did not ultimately make it into the production version. This is the case, for example, of the animations the vehicle was capable of performing with its front and rear lighting systems. The same goes for the interior lighting.
When will it be available?
Hyundai intends to begin selling this Disney100 special edition of the IONIQ 5 early next year. That said, if you are interested in getting one, you had better not be distracted, because only one thousand units will be produced. Not one more, not one less. This unusual initiative by the South Korean manufacturer is part of a much broader marketing strategy, which also includes events over the coming months and even the sale of merchandise to celebrate 100 years of Disney.

For Andrew Messina, Disney’s head of sales, the collaboration with Hyundai on this special edition of the IONIQ 5 highlights the close relationship that currently exists between the two companies. He also wanted to point out that the celebration of Disney’s centenary will serve to showcase the company’s leadership in the entertainment sector, and also how collaboration with third parties, as is the case with Hyundai, can result in fantastic experiences.
