Hyundai moves fully into Russia and unveils the Solaris, along with a new plant

Hyundai Solaris - Rusia

Hyundai continues forward at full speed in every market where it can and intends to have a significant presence. Now it is Russia’s turn. The Korean company has unveiled the first Hyundai built locally, along with a new plant in St. Petersburg, capable of producing 150,000 vehicles per year.

And the first and great star of the new factory is the Hyundai Solaris, the next generation of the best-known Accent, a saloon that will be presented with 1.4 and 1.6-litre engines in that country, and whose production lines will begin to start up.

The Solaris is a car specially designed to withstand Russia’s long and harsh winters, with heating ducts for rear passengers, a more powerful battery and a four-litre windscreen washer fluid reservoir (as options, heated windscreen and front seats). Details that may seem insignificant, but will be much appreciated at around minus 15 degrees on some remote Russian road.

As for the new factory on Russian soil, there is no doubt that the emerging Russian market will make good use of the new industrial complex that will house the production of 105,000 cars next year and up to 150,000 in 2012.
