Hyundai unveils the second generation of the Equus

The Korean brand has published information and official images of the second generation of its flagship saloon, the Equus (also known as Centennial), available in certain Asian markets. Compared with the previous model, which was a Mitsubishi Proudia with a different badge, the changes are very significant, and as a result the Equus can well stand up to its toughest rivals, such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class or the Lexus LS.

Outside, it is clear which model the new Equus is derived from. Its platform is a stretched version of the one used by the Genesis, and it measures 5’16 metres long in its “short” variant, since there is an even larger one, which is popular in those countries such as Korea or China.

The engines of the short version are the Lambda 3.8 V6 with 290 hp and the Tau 4.6 V8 with 375. The long-wheelbase variant features a 5.0 V8 with 420 hp. In terms of equipment, the parking assistance systems stand out, another called Pre-Safe Seatbelt that tightens the seatbelts when an accident is about to happen, and one last system that warns when you change lanes involuntarily.
