Hyundai will showcase a smartwatch app at CES for controlling the car with your voice

Hyundai has announced that it will unveil a new app designed for smartwatches (smartwatches) next week at the CES electronics fair in Las Vegas. This technology, linked to the Blue Link telematics service platform, will make it possible to interact with the vehicle by voice through a smartwatch from LG, Motorola, Samsung or Sony.
The app will allow certain commands to be given to the car, such as starting the engine or switching it off (only if it was previously started this way), opening or closing the doors, turning on the lights, or sounding the horn. The user will also be able to use the smartwatch to locate the vehicle, connect to the Blue Link system, or call the roadside assistance service.
This technology must be combined via Bluetooth with the Blue Link application designed for mobile phones and the phone’s own Internet connection. Hyundai states that it will be compatible with the first and second generations of Blue Link (which the new Elantra GT and Veloster will debut this year) and that it will be available for free in North America for Android Wear starting in the first quarter of 2015.
Hyundai developed the app together with Station Digital Media, a California-based company that already had experience designing connections between vehicles and digital devices. For the time being, the Korean manufacturer has no plans to offer either Blue Link or the app in Europe, so on this side of the pond we will have to make do with the demonstrations prepared for CES and for the Pepcom’s Digital Experience event next Monday, where the first details will be previewed.
