If you like the Harley Davidson V-Rod, hurry up: the brand is retiring it ahead of schedule!

During the coming year 2018 we are going to see Harley Davidson withdraw the V-Rod model from production, which has an engine developed together with Porsche

In 2001, the purists were quite scandalized by the arrival of the Harley Davidson V-Rod, a model that broke with the traditional aesthetic we usually associate with the Milwaukee brand. For 17 years it was one of the models offered to anyone who wanted to enjoy one of these formidable motorcycles but wanted a more contemporary look, away from the more classic models in the catalogue. Now, after 17 years on the market, they have just announced that this model will be discontinued.

It will be from 2018 onwards, so if you are one of those who wanted to get one of them, you can do so. At least for a while. Apparently, the poor financial results that Harley Davidson has been dragging along for some time are responsible for this decision, which is causing quite a lot of concern among the brand’s enthusiasts, and there are quite a few of them. For several years it searched for its place, until it finally managed to find a niche in buyers’ tastes, although it has not been enough to keep it on the market.

Besides the bike’s distinctive look, closer to what one expects from a motorcycle of the 21st century, the engine stood out. In fact, it is a block developed together with Porsche in Germany. Thus, the Revolution twin-cylinder 60º V-block has a configuration of 1,131 cc, and in its Revolution X version it reached 1,247 cc, delivering 115 and 125 CV respectively. It became one of the most powerful motorcycles ever built by this legendary American brand.

Several versions have complemented the range, and all of them are destined to disappear within a few months. So the brand’s purists will be pleased, because the model used elements that are not characteristic of the brand’s aesthetic, but one of the models that maintains the essence of the brand, while bringing it unmistakably closer to recent times and giving it a new, powerful image, will also be lost.

It is not the only range that will disappear next year, since Harley Davidson has also opted to discontinue the Dyna Big Twin, so we could see more news on this in the coming months. But there is no need to worry, because Harley Davidson continues to be one of the great motorcycle brands, and we will be able to enjoy an extensive and complete catalogue of custom motorcycles and future surprises that will keep it in the spotlight.
