Incredible! Tesla's home charger is now 10% cheaper
Tesla cuts the price of its Wall Connector to $500 in its 7-metre corded version.
Tesla’s home charger, known as the Wall Connector, is offered in two versions: one with a 2.5-metre cable and another with a 7-metre one. Until now this charging system had a price of $550 in its more flexible version (7 metres), but now the brand has decided to cut its cost by 10%, offering it at the same price as the short-cable option ($500).

On its website, Tesla recommends the following when choosing between the two options its Wall Connector offers:
“The 8.5-foot (2.5-metre) charging station is recommended when installed directly adjacent to the parking space. For Model S or Model X vehicles equipped with the standard onboard charger (48A), install the wall charger with a 60-amp circuit breaker for optimal charging. For vehicles with the charger upgrade (high amperage: 72A), install the wall charger with a 90-amp breaker. To share charging with more than one Tesla, install with as much power as possible, up to 100 amps. Meanwhile, the 24-foot (more than 7 metres) wall connector is recommended for maximum flexibility in parking locations”

Fortunately, Tesla has confirmed that its charging system will be compatible with the new Model 3.
Considering its cost ($500) and its maximum charging capacity (72 amps), the Tesla Wall Connector is probably the best option for charging a Tesla vehicle at home. Among the alternatives to the Tesla home charger is the Juicebox Pro 75. This charger offers a charging capacity of 75 amps, WiFi connectivity and a very interesting mobile app, but its price and low availability work against it.
