The new models arriving on the market are equipped with the latest technology, which helps increase driving safety. This is possible thanks to the incorporation of a series of sensors and cameras that recognise the surroundings and allow the onboard systems to act when necessary. The Peugeot 308 reached the market only a few weeks ago and is one of the vehicles equipped with these driver assistance systems to support the person behind the wheel during journeys.

One of the most widely used driver assistance systems today is also fitted to the Peugeot 308. It is the collision warning, which in this case is called Distance Alert. With the sensors and cameras associated with this system, the car is able to detect vehicles ahead travelling in the same direction. It also warns of the presence of pedestrians and, if necessary, activates the Active Safety Brake, that is, the emergency brake.

The Peugeot 308 also uses a system that assists the steering in keeping the car within its lane, provided it is travelling at a speed between 65 and 160 km/h. It obtains the information through a camera located at the top of the windscreen, which recognises the road markings in order to keep the car safely on its course. The system warns, with an audible signal, if the trajectory deviates, before acting on the steering.

A system that recognises speed limits from traffic signs, together with a system that adapts the car’s speed to the speed limits of each stretch of road, simply by pressing the MEM button of the speed limiter. The rear camera, located above the tailgate, provides a 180º view, giving a good view of the area behind the car to help when parking. In addition, it can park semi-autonomously, because while the driver operates the accelerator, brake and gearshift, the system takes care of the steering. The driver can regain control simply by taking hold of the wheel.

With all of this, the Peugeot 308 is equipped to assist the driver in making journeys safer, allowing them to focus on enjoying the pleasure of driving while minimising road risks. A good reason to consider this compact from the French brand.
