Is the BMW X7 M? The large sports SUV is already an option
The BMW X7 could receive an M variant in the future that could produce around 600 hp.
The BMW X7 is in its final development phase. The largest SUV from the Bavarian firm will offer three rows of seats and a host of qualities that could make it the ultimate premium crossover. The top-of-the-range version, the X7 M50i, will fit the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine offered in the BMW M850i, that is, an engine that produces 523 hp and 750 Nm of torque. But will this be the sportiest version of the new BMW X7? Apparently, and according to BMWBLOG, the German firm is currently deliberating over the possibility of producing an M variant of the X7.
600 hp for the 7-seat SUV

At present it is all speculation, but there is talk of an BMW X7 M with performance that could reach 600 hp. If that happens, the X7 M would be more powerful than the BMW X5 M and X6 M, two models that each have 575 hp. It would also be more powerful than the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 (575 hp) or the Range Rover SVAutobiography (557 hp).

The big question is whether BMW will finally decide to produce an M variant of the X7, a version that has traditionally been reserved for less voluminous vehicles. In its favour is the fact that in 2010 it also seemed unthinkable that BMW would launch an SUV with the M badge, which ultimately happened with the X5 M.

It is also important to bear in mind that in the 46 years of the M division and 41 years of the 7 Series, the Bavarian manufacturer still has not produced a hypothetical M7. The closest to that model is the current M750Li, a saloon that has taken its 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 engine from Rolls-Royce. This powerplant produces 602 hp, yet without bearing the M designation… what a shame!
