It is not unusual to see police forces in many countries receive luxury cars with considerable power so they can carry out their service duties. Often, these are cars that have been seized in police operations and become part of the police fleet. In other cases, they are vehicles purchased for special services, and in others, they are loaned by manufacturers under some agreement between the parties or to celebrate a notable occasion.

In the case of the Italian police, they have just received a new car for their fleet. A very special one that many police forces around the world would love to have in service. It is a Lamborghini Urus Perfomante, which is entering service and will be assigned to special services. It will not be a car on the street for ordinary duties, but will have a rather special task.

This Urus Perfomante is the sixth vehicle from the brand in service with the Italian police, in a collaboration that has now lasted 20 years. The vehicle has been modified by Centro Stile Lamborghini, which has prepared the police livery, with the typical blue color used on official vehicles, and the vehicle’s own designs have been added in reflective vinyl.

On the roof, 360º blue lights and two-color light signals have been fitted. Inside, everything necessary has been set up so it can carry out its task. There is an armored compartment for weapons, space to store police equipment, and a defibrillator for emergency situations. In addition, it has been equipped with a refrigerated drawer that will be very important for the work it is going to perform.

This car will be used for the urgent transport of human organs for transplants. That will be its function and for this, the boot capacity, which is rated at 616 litres, will be essential. Its engine will also be key, a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. It delivers 666 CV and a maximum torque of 850 Nm.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is 3.3 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 306 km/h. This SUV joins another recent addition to the Italian police, a Tesla Model X that will serve on the Padua-Venice motorway from 2024. This has become the first electric SUV in the Italian police force.
