Iveco Vision, the preview of the light commercial vehicles of the future
Iveco Vision
Iveco’s ongoing research into new technological solutions is embodied in the Iveco Vision concept, which uses a laboratory vehicle to explore what will become the light commercial vehicles of the future. Innovations such as driving aids, productivity improvements, safety features and the development of alternative drivetrains to achieve mobility with minimal environmental impact are the roadmap Iveco is following, as shown in this vehicle.
It goes from being a “delivery vehicle” to a “mobile distribution platform”.Some of this equipment is already available in the brand’s current model ranges and can be applied to future generations thanks to its design. The continuous transformation affecting mobility and commercial transport makes it difficult to meet every need, which is why Iveco has developed flexible solutions, among which the multiple traction and real-time energy management stand out.
In the future, the environment will have to be taken into account, but so will congestion in cities, fuel costs, pollution, among others. For this reason, Iveco has envisioned moving from a “delivery vehicle” to a “mobile distribution platform”, so the Iveco Vision has been conceived as something more than a work tool.

The Dual Energy technology, presented at the IAA Hannover Show in 2012, has evolved in this concept. It allows the use of two types of traction: one exclusively electric and another hybrid. The reduction in consumption and CO2 emissions can reach up to 25%.
Dual Energy technology allows the use of exclusively electric traction and hybrid traction. The high-strength steel chassis on which the modular architecture of the light commercial vehicles is based can accommodate different transmissions and components, and offers great versatility when adapting the vehicle to different bodies (panel van, chassis cab, motorhome, minibus or special versions) and uses according to each customer’s needs.
Ergonomics, visibility, high-tech equipment and driving comfort are some of the virtues of the Iveco Vision that improve safety and performance to make life inside the cabin more comfortable for the driver.
The large glazed surfaces, the transparent front pillars, and the roof on which photovoltaic panels are placed enhance visibility within the concept. The rear-view mirrors have been replaced by a rear camera and two side cameras that provide a complete view of the surroundings. The images captured are shown on a screen located at the upper front of the cabin.

A sliding side door gives access to both the driver’s position and the load area. To make it easier to get in and out of the load area, the lower part of the rear door becomes a platform. The Iveco Vision includes additional shelves that help store packages and smaller objects.
Smart load area with innovative securing devices.A sensor-based load management system identifies packages so they can be placed more appropriately inside the vehicle. Innovative securing devices can also be incorporated, such as inflatable and flexible bags that protect fragile goods and keep them from moving.
The vehicle’s behavior adapts in real time, according to road conditions, the load, speed and the task being performed. The GPS, mapping and vehicle sensors continuously monitor the information.

Essential information such as vehicle and load data, navigation and traffic data is shown on a tablet located on the dashboard. It can be removed when necessary. The type of information can be changed with a simple gesture on the touchscreen.
The Iveco Vision is equipped with various systems that help reduce consumption, and provide infotainment and safety. Elements such as the photovoltaic roof (which allows energy to be stored), the adaptive TPMS (which automatically adjusts tyre pressure), E-Horizon (which manages the driving mode thanks to a GPS system), adaptive lights, Adaptive Cruise Control, lane change assist, object and pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, adaptive emergency braking system and sign recognition form part of this complete equipment.
