Jeep announces that the new Avenger 4xe hybrid will arrive at the end of this year

Jeep will expand the Avenger family towards the end of 2024 with the arrival of the Avenger 4xe, which combines mild-hybrid technology and all-wheel drive

Jeep is also in line with the rest of manufacturers when it comes to electric mobility across all its variants, gradually introducing models that, in a way, have not really caught on with the general public, so to amortise such a large investment they need to give a boost to their electric range, and they will do so imminently, until 2025, with new plug-in hybrid and conventional hybrid models.

The model we are concerned with here belongs to the latter group: the new Avenger 4xe. But first, let us set the context. Practically at the end of 2023, Jeep presented the Avenger E-Hybrid, a version that used mild-hybrid technology of 48 V, and which is now also taken as the reference for creating this new Avenger 4xe. In the case of the latter, however, two electric motors are used and drive is to all four wheels, thus increasing both its capability and its appeal.

The performance of the Avenger Jeep is therefore improved with the use of 4xe hybrid technology, in which, for this model, a 136 CV petrol engine is combined with two electric motors, each with 21 kW of power, one of them integrated into the 6-speed e-DCS6 automatic dual-clutch gearbox. It also features the interesting power looping technology, which guarantees all-wheel drive regardless of the battery’s state of charge, so total traction is guaranteed at all times.

It will have other technologies we already know from its sibling, the Avenger E-Hybrid, such as the so-called e-creeping function for short movements, such as in traffic jams, so that the accelerator does not have to be used, or the e-parking mode, which allows both first gear and reverse to be used to park in fully electric mode. It will also allow its drivers to travel in fully electric mode as long as it is at low speeds, specifically if speeds do not exceed 30 km/h, although doing so will never be for a distance greater than 1 kilometre.

For the time being, the price of the Jeep Avenger 4xe is an unknown, and we will have to wait some time, since the brand has confirmed that orders for this new model will not open until the end of this same year.
