Jiyue opens pre-sales in China of its 07 electric saloon

China’s electric vehicle market is becoming increasingly competitive, with near-constant launches of models with more than attractive prices, such as the Jiyue 07.

The Chinese brand Jiyue, the result of a collaboration between automotive giant Geely and technology company Baidu, has started pre-sales of the second model in its vehicle range. According to the manufacturer, customers who wish to can already place an advance order for the new Jiyue 07 electric saloon from 215,900 yuan, which at current exchange rates works out to around 27,500 euros.

The Jiyue 07 was unveiled in April at the Beijing Auto Show, although on that occasion only its exterior design was revealed, with no details about its propulsion system. Now, Jiyue has disclosed that the rear-wheel-drive versions feature a 400V architecture and a maximum output of 200 kW, while the all-wheel-drive versions add a second 200 kW motor on the front axle and also use an 800V architecture.

The entry-level versions of this electric saloon are equipped with a 71.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, with which it is possible to travel up to 660 km on a single charge under the fairly generous Chinese CLTC homologation cycle. The higher-spec versions, meanwhile, feature a 100 kWh NMC battery pack, which allows up to 880 km CLTC range with the rear-wheel-drive version and 770 km with the all-wheel-drive version. However, Jiyue has not yet provided information on charging times.

Other details to note about this electric saloon

The Jiyue 07 is based on Geely’s SEA platform, the same one used by the Zeekr, the Polestar 4 and the entire EX range of electric models from Volvo. On the other hand, its dimensions are fairly generous, measuring 4.95 metres long, 1.99 metres wide and 1.48 metres high, thereby outdoing its most direct rival in this respect: the Tesla Model 3.

The interior of the Jiyue 07 stands out for its yoke-style steering wheel and the integration of a 35.6-inch display with 6K resolution, which can also be configured in single, dual or triple-screen mode and stretches from the centre of the driver’s side to the passenger’s side. In addition, there is also a small screen on the rear centre console for rear passengers.

The vehicle will come equipped with version 2.0 of Baidu’s ASD driver-assistance system – Apollo Self Driving – , the use of which will require a monthly subscription of 599 yuan (around 76 euros). However, the manufacturer will offer its customers the first three months free of charge. Additionally, and only during a limited launch phase, it will also be possible to purchase this ASD system for 4,999 yuan (around 635 euros), ultimately costing 29,900 yuan (around 3,800 euros).
